Seriously, though, paranoia was a small state I visited this week. From wondering about job security in a frail job market to second guessing a teacher's note home, I was bouncing thoughts off my helpmate like a ping pong ball. I promised him a while ago that I didn't marry him just because he had chosen the mental health profession and I could have my own personal counselor - free of charge (he was used to the low pay anyway). He may wonder about that promise from time to time.
My last paranoid moment this week happened as I opened the September issue of my newly favorite local magazine called herNashville. This mag is sophisticated, fun and inspiring. I had replied to their requests for 'dreams deferred' in their August issue, mentioning that I wouldn't mind hang gliding. I chose hang gliding, not only because it's something I'd like to do but also because I thought it would be in their budget.
I received an email from the editor who replied that the writer of the section herMuse would contact me about my dream to hang glide. That was about 3 weeks ago. As I opened the September issue and flipped through, I saw pictures of a girl tandem hang gliding under the new section herAdventure. My mouth dropped open. I honestly felt a bit...well, bamboozled. If they were planning an article on it -- why not tell me so. It was like the frosting to finish off the cake that was thrown at my face by someone with great aim and could be in the majors. Well not that bad but I'm trying to have fun with it -- give me a break.
Ah well, maybe they'll accept an article submission (not this one, ha ha) from a fledgling writer after expressing my disappointment -- I just have to make sure I include a copyright. That's not paranoia folks -- that's just plain common sense.
Hope you had a paranoid free week!
-Sharon
