The Hopscotch Game Show

Please scroll down and click the play button on the green playlist box towards bottom of this site so that the music doesn't play during the video.  Then after the video, turn it back on 'cause I've got a great Playlist!

We are trying different things to help our daughter Phoebe learn her sight words.  One suggestion from her teacher was to make a grid on a plastic shower liner and place sight words on those grids creating a game where she has to say the sight word within a grid box.  We've done it in different ways - mainly as a hopscotch game.  Tonight was the first time we tried it as a game show and we got our oldest, Maddy, involved.  We found their old tape player/microphone combo so that Maddy could 'announce' throughout the game.  She would tell the contestant, Phoebe, how many steps to take after rolling the dice, whether she said the sight word correctly, repeating the sight word, and what level she was advancing to next.  They really got into it and enjoyed themselves.  More importantly, they can't wait to do it tomorrow!
