You know those smallish black birds that take over several trees and at the slightest provocation WOOSH out into the sky, dipping and curving and diving as one group? It's actually a pretty cool sight to see.

I left work a little early to make an appointment so was able to enjoy a bit of what was left of the sunset. As I drove down the tree-lined drive towards Rosa Parks Blvd., a movement to the left caught my eye. I watched as hundreds of the smallish black birds soared to the sky as one. I'd never seen them so close -- usually they are as high as the power lines. It was like a wild life ballet. They swarmed above my van and I slowed a bit to watch them fly over....and crap all over my recently rain-washed van.
And this is how I know I have owned my 'stay positive' resolution. Instead of cursing the birds back to the hell they rose from, I started laughing. Hard. I had tears in my eyes by the time I reached the light and called my husband to share the story as I pumped wiper fluid (lots of it) on to the windshield and thanked God for the man who filled the wiper fluid reservoir when we got our oil changed.
